what is the difference between hand building ceramics and throwing on the wheel?
-
Hand-building means creating with clay using your hands and simple tools, rather than a pottery wheel.
-
Techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab-building and sculpting allow you to create everything from mugs and bowls to homeware, sculptures and statement pieces.
-
Hand-building offers huge creative freedom and is perfect for creating more unusual, individual forms that would be difficult to achieve on a wheel.
-
ClayLife is a dedicated hand-building and sculpture studio, we do not offer wheel throwing.
-
No experience is needed! Our workshops are completely beginner-friendly, and we’ll guide you through the process from start to finish.
accessibility
-
Free on-site parking is available at Hope Mill for our guests.
Our studio is located on the third floor of Hope Mill, with three flights of stairs to reach us.

A lift is available, however it does not meet current accessibility standards, and the studio entrance doors may not accommodate all wheelchairs.

when will my ceramics be ready to collect?

-
Delivery can be arranged on request for an additional fee, calculated based on the size, weight and destination of your pieces.
-
